Great cost to tolerate the little things: lessons from a luminaire

Recently took over a small annoying problem that I had been bothering me for a very, very long. The wall sconces in my master bathroom had been on the fritz for a long time. The lights were flashing and off. high-priced electricians were very concerned. I finally decided the accessories needed to be replaced. So I bought new accessories ... and stuck in a storage. I finally got new fixtures installed after the dust collected about 18 months.

Sad but true! I had been tolerating tenuous, insufficient lighting in my bathroom for about 385 weeks. Not being able to see clearly the time to put on my makeup in the morning. Feel my energy drop when I entered the room and saw the four colored wires coming out of my mirror. In explaining to my children that I ... simply had not found the time to get someone to install new fixtures. The irony of wanting to be light and inspiration in the world, but I was dragging my heels on bringing in broad daylight in my own space. Fascinating all the lessons that can be revealed from these vignettes of everyday life!

Here are some lessons I learned from the "Bathroom Fixture Fiasco" I'd like to share with you so you can identify and remove any tolerations living with!

Lesson # 1 - Beware of pebbles

Start with problems, relationships and situations that do not contribute to that tends to fall into two categories: the boulders and pebbles. Stones are those that are so obvious that even he knows he needs to deal with them somehow. Some examples include abusive relationships or career soul-sucking. Boulders energy demand of his great moment!

The pebbles are the smallest, seemingly innocuous questions that do not look like much. There are so obvious that require attention. Working with people who do not always do what they say, is the pile of papers on your desk, or repairing a light fixture in your bathroom. Not fooled! Pebbles are quietly, and consequently, depleting their energy and concentration and the cost can be enormous. Besides, you spend time the creation of reasons or excuses for what is right to put up with them. "I'll get to that presentation tomorrow, no big deal!" or "I'm going to avoid what is not to say that I am not happy with his work." So tolerations sized gravel can add up to the time the principal and leakage power.

Consider the mountain climber. It is often easier to raise or lower the big stones which is cross tracks safely of pebbles and boulders.

# 2 - Lesson Tolerations reveal subconscious truths

There are real jewels of wisdom to discover and manage the areas you've been putting off until you zap your focus. My break light revealed that there was a deep part unaware that it was very good to me, not in my light. "Hey," he thought, "You're safer when a little harder to see because then are not as visible a target of criticism. "There was one part I really liked a bit of discomfort or suffering because I could stay in a poor self mentality.

Think of something you know you are ignoring and tolerating. What are the thoughts that used to hold it in place? Look see where those same thoughts appear in the rest of your life?

Lesson # 3 - Figure your return on investment

When you discover a tolerance and motivation you need to take action, see your return on investment. How long have you been trying not to notice that their taxes are filed, or that its storage room in the basement is full of stuff that scares you?

I ran a quick calculation of the expenses of my fiasco lamp. If I assumed I lost at least 5 minutes a day because I allowed my energy to be drained by this situation, this experiment denial and delay cost me 225 hours walloping! The cost of solving the problem? Only 5 minutes to make a call, 20 minutes for monitoring where necessary and $ 50.

Start with tolerations is never a good investment, especially if you look at a return on investment. Your time, energy and talents are too precious to waste. So these lessons in my bathroom lamps serve as a warning to you!
